Real Weddings Magazine Rebrand
Embrace

Embrace is a rebrand for Real Weddings Magazine. Created in conjunction
with Graduate Editorial at ArtCenter College of Design, the rebrand focused
on the genuine experience of brides leading up to their wedding day. Embrace
highlights the ups and downs of the bridal journey with alluring and engaging
forms throughout the new magazine. Brides are given the opportunity to step
away from being inundated with vendors and decisions in this magazine, but
instead, are able to target their own personal experience when embarking on
the path to marriage.

Logo Development

Created to mimic the personal journey that corresponds with marriage, the Embrace logo progression has delicate and hand drawn features.

Intended to relate to the ever evolving story of the bride, the final logo is hand drawn, but bolder in nature. It mirrors the beautiful ups and downs of the wedding planning process.

Embrace
Cover & Content Approach

The cover and content approach for Embrace encompasses the idea of fluidity of form and beauty. Inspired from artist Benjamin Shine’s tulle creations, the cover showcases the beauty of tulle fabric that is often found in wedding dresses.

The flexible nature of the fabric further reiterates the changing elements of a bride’s story and further compliments the nature of the magazine.

Magazine Content Overview

The content of Embrace magazine is redesigned to focus not on vendors/advertisements, specifically, but on the emotional needs of brides. Articles featured include topics such as bridal blues, wedding details, changing one’s name, life after the wedding, and a new wedding culture.
Below is an overview of the Embrace magazine as a whole. From the overall format of the magazine to the stories conveyed, it brings personal perspectives to light and generates a connection to readers. When the needs of the bride are met through relatable articles and content instead of only advertisements, this will garner trust in the Embrace brand and pique the interest of the bride to research featured sponsors.

Poster Series

This poster series illustrates the beauty and abstract nature of Embrace magazine. With poster images created in conjunction with the magazine cover, this poster series was inspired by artist Benjamin Shine’s tulle portraiture.
The magazine posters are intended to be more abstract in nature, and feature Shine’s work on a large scale in public settings, outside of a bookstore for instance, as to connect to the magazine’s readers.
