Completed in 2016 and still impactful to my work today, the Torn Series depicts the internal struggles and challenges of embracingthe unknown. Created to highlight the chaos and beauty found within life’s storms, each piece was formed by unique finger-painting methods. These pieces coincided with career altering athletic injuries at the conclusion of my Divison I swim career. They were not only therapeutic in nature, but launched me into a new understanding of what it means to let go and let God direct your path. Turbulent on the outside, and yet calm at the center, Torn prompts one to find the beauty in the midst of life’s unpredictable unknowns and the peace that can be found when we finally release control, letting God take the reigns to unveil His ultimate masterpiece in our lives.
